Creaks

Creaks is a two-dimensional logic adventure game, in which we find ourselves in a mysterious surrealistic world. The game's developer, Amanita Design, is active since 2003 and over the years has built a good reputation among fans of classic adventure games. The creators are responsible for the well-received Machinarium, the Samorost series, Botanicula and finally Chuchel, published in 2018. The works of the Czechs are characterized by an interesting two-dimensional graphic design and a unique depiction of the world and the plot, often without the use of any text.

Mechanics

Creaks is a combination of an adventure game and a logic game with elements of a stealth game. Players take on the role of a protagonist who leads a peaceful life. One day he discovers in his room a mysterious passage covered with wallpaper and plaster, which he opens out of curiosity and then moves to another dimension. During the game, we travel through a surreal and labyrinth-like world, whose inhabitants are bizarre machines, robots, and beasts. We also solve various puzzles and avoid contact with aggressive NPCs. All this in order to finally find a way back home.

Technical aspects

The unique two-dimensional, comic-book-like design of Creaks is very similar to the one featured in Machinarium. The game is accompanied by atmospheric music. The title is devoid of any spoken dialogues.
