An action adventure game with a TPP camera, published by Polish 11 bit studios. Our main goals in Creatures of Ava are to stop a disease and to heal aggressive creatures affected by it. We don't kill animals, but instead remove the infection from their bodies and then tame them.
Creatures of Ava is an action adventure game. It's a result of cooperation between Spanish development studios - Inverge and Chibig. The game was released by the Polish company 11 bit studios.
Creatures of Ava takes us on a journey to the titular fantasy land. Ava is inhabited by the Naam people and various creatures. The prevailing peace and harmony were disrupted by the emergence of a mysterious disease called "withering", which makes the affected creatures to become aggressive.
During the game, we play the role of a young traveler named Vic, who decides to accompany researcher Tabitha on her scientific expedition. The goal is to reach the source of the infection and deal with it as the fate of all Ava's inhabitants hangs in the balance. On the way, our protagonist gets to know the world, the culture and the customs of the Naam people, and also learns more and more about her own past.
The story told in the game was supervised by Rhianna Pratchett - the daughter of the famous Terry Pratchett. Rhianna's portfolio includes such projects as Tomb Raider, BioShock Infinite, Risen and the Overlord series.
In Creatures of Ava, we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The adventure leads us through various locations, such as the Nari jungle or the Maruba swamps. While traveling through them, Vic is primarily concerned with dealing with the disease that plagues the creatures inhabiting the land.
The battles we fight against aggressive creatures are not aimed at weakening the opponents (let alone killing them), but curing them of the plague. This means the heroine does not attack opponents, but performs dodges and cleanses successive parts of their bodies from infection. She uses a special staff called Nafitar, which is a relic of an ancient civilization that once inhabited Ava.
After a successful healing, we can grab a flute, which allows us to communicate with creatures and tame them. By imitating the sounds made by individual creatures, we gain their trust, consequently being able to take control over them and see the world through their eyes. Each of them has individual skills that allow us to interact with the environment in various ways.

Game Ratings for Creatures of Ava Video Game.
Game8: 70 / 100 by Alfonso Majarucon
Don’t judge a book by its cover. While that old adage usually means that there are more profound things hidden underneath a substandard exterior, in Creatures of Ava’s case, it’s the opposite. The game looks absolutely beautiful, that’s true. However, its story will make you question your expenses, the gameplay ages very quickly, and the music can actually trigger premature dementia. The game is very cheap, though, so it balances out to some extent.
COGconnected: 72 / 100 by James Paley
To be fair, the good parts of Ava are great. Having different songs for different species of monsters is terribly clever. The non-violent combat is an awesome twist, and the writing is spot-on. But I found myself worn down by the make-work in between these sections. Constantly scanning, scavenging, and crafting is a real drag. On the other hand, maybe you’ll find these activities more soothing than I did. You can also pet like, basically every creature you meet. If you’re looking for a gorgeous, well-written, and deeply connected tale of hubris versus nature, this is it. Creatures of Ava is exactly what you’ve been searching for. But bear in mind that some of the work involved in saving a planet is pretty mundane.
Indie Games Devel: 7.3 / 10 by Francesco Mastrodicasa
Creatures of Ava is a delightful yet imperfect surprise. While the game is undeniably enjoyable and features several commendable elements, it falls short of fully realizing the promising ideas envisioned by its developers. This feels like a missed opportunity, as the initial narrative appeal suggested the potential for a more impactful experience. With a bit more fine-tuning, the gameplay mechanics could have evolved into something truly exceptional.
