Tchia is an adventure game with an open world, in which we travel through a tropical land. The game was developed by the independent studio Awaceb.
Tchia takes us on a journey to a fictional place, to be precise, to a land inspired by New Caledonia, a small French island in the Pacific Ocean, where the developers come from. The heroine of the game is the girl, who walks through the archipelago, meeting its inhabitants and experiencing various adventures.
In Tchia, the action is shown from the third person perspective (TPP). During the game, we explore the region, travelling on foot or on board of a boat. Moving around the locations is made easier by the impressive skills of the protagonist, who can both climb on elements of the environment and swim, use a provisional parachute or even use trees as a kind of launcher. In addition, Tchia is able to take control of animals and various objects like tyres, which gives her additional capabilities; as a bird, for example, she can travel long distances in the air and as a dog she can dig deep holes in the ground. She is also able to play the ukulele; this way, we sometimes push the story forward or manipulate the game world, summoning animals or changing the weather. Although initially her repertoire is limited, with time we unlock new melodies.
All this is not only useful during exploration and completion of various tasks, but also helps us to discover the secrets of the presented world and to solve numerous puzzles. As we progress, we are gaining hundreds of cosmetic accessories to change the look of both the heroine and her boat, as well as useful tools like torch, compass or camera.
Tchia has colourful graphics in cartoon style.

Game Ratings for Tchia Video Game.
PlayStation LifeStyle: 6 / 10 by Mack Ashworth
During the course of Tchia’s tropical adventure, players will experience many great, carefully-implemented ideas. The open world influenced by New Caledonia remains sensitive to its cultural inspirations, the unique soul-jumping mechanic is a joy to use and explore, the boat controls and fully-functional ukulele are overkill in the best kind of way, and the story has both unexpected darkness and humor. Unfortunately, a handful of good ideas can’t save Tchia from running out of steam before the finale and crumbling beneath a wave of performance issues.
Digital Trends: 4 / 5 by Tomas Franzese
Tchia pays tribute to New Caledonia with a gorgeous open-world game that takes the right notes from Breath of the Wild.
Game Informer: 8.5 / 10 by Kyle Hilliard
Tchia drips with joyful, explorative fun. The idea of letting players loose in an interactive sandbox is a goal that has been chased by developers since video games began. Few truly give you the freedom to frolic in a virtual playground, and though Tchia is not without its shortcomings, it’s a rare instance where the temptation to just play in the digital world is rewarding at just about every turn. The tone, the music, and Tchia’s abilities all come together to create something that is simply fun, and it all takes place in a setting that demands to be explored.
