Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge is a continuation of the famous action game released in 2000. The first part of Crimson Skies appeared on personal computers, the discussed sequel went exclusively to the Xbox console. We are dealing here with a not too complicated simulator, in which we take part in spectacular air duels. The production and release of High Road to Revenge was taken care of by Microsoft. At the same time, it is worth noting that it has an exceptionally extensive multiplayer mode. Up to four players can meet at the same console. The game takes place on a split screen. However, incomparably more interesting are network duels, in which up to 16 people take part. Players can of course choose between many different play modes, including the classic Deathmatch.
The action of this game (like in the first part of Crimson Skies) takes place in an alternative version of reality. We are in the thirties of the twentieth century. Aircraft, including the huge Zeppelins, play an important role in the realities presented by the game. Once again we play the role of an air pirate, Nathan Zachary. This time he wants to avenge the death of one of his close friends.
The actual gameplay is very similar to the previously mentioned first part of Crimson Skies. We carry out various missions, aimed at the liquidation of designated units, or at least the protection of allied machines. There were also stages of a typically spy character. The main character can sit at the helm of one of the ten airborne machines while playing. It is worth mentioning here that the presented fighters have a slightly futuristic character. The same applies to the additional weaponry mounted on them. Missions do not end with the possibilities of the game. The player is additionally rewarded for performing breakneck acrobatics and searching for valuable bonuses.
High Road to Revenge is above all a simple dexterity class, so piloting airborne machines is not usually a big problem. At the same time, it is worth noting that the environment is extremely interactive. For example, a player can destroy selected ground structures in order to get rid of certain units or to cut off the only way to the destination for meals. The visually described shooter looks extremely good. Air duels are usually extremely dynamic. There were also many impressive explosions.
