Cold River Games is a Swedish development studio based in the city of Umea and it was founded in 2021. Crystalfall described here is their debut project. It is an action RPG representing the hack'n'slash type. The game is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions.

Gameplay

In Crystalfall we watch events in an isometric view.

Post-apocalyptic journey

The game transports us to a fantasy universe on the border of post-apocalypse and steampunk. It was devastated by an asteroid, the impact of which scattered crystal fragments all over the world. During the game we take on the role of a convict thrown into the dungeons by a powerful organization, and our task is to search the underground and face countless threats.

Combat, characters and their development

The game gives us access to hybrid animal characters, such as a fox-artilleryman, a lion-knight, or a crow-technomancer. Assuming the role of one of them, we explore procedurally generated locations and face hordes of enemies, among which we will find both monsters and steampunk enemies. During dynamic battles, we must skillfully use the strengths of the controlled character.
