A city builder with RPG and survival mechanics. Darfall is about exploration and building the city during the day, while after nightfall we need to participate in battles using the characters we developed. Our goal is to repel the attacks from the undead, relying on traps straight from tower defense titles.

Darfall is a game mixing different genres, offering mechanics known from city builders and tower defense type strategies, as well as adding RPG and survival elements. The development of the game was handled by a small indie studio from Slovakia named SquareNite.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Darfall is divided into two stages. In the first one, we build our settlement, gather resources, organize hunts, craft weapons, and set up defensive systems with the aim of repelling the night offensive from the undead. The lighting system and traps such as spikes or explosive barrels may turn out to be crucial.

The arrival of night ends the first stage, bringing a hordes of enemies. Hence, the second stage of the game resembles a battle RTS, in which we test the army constructed beforehand. Darfall offers a range of characters we can develop. We use their diverse skills in a way similar to MOBA titles, including setting groups of enemies on fire or healing wounded allies.
