Death or Treat

Mechanics

Death or Treat is a side-scroller. The game takes place in many diverse locations, each inspired by Halloween. These include industrial complexes, ancient ruins and dark undergrounds. While traversing these areas, Scary jumps onto platforms, avoids traps and dispatches hordes of enemies. The protagonist can wield both melee weaponry (we can choose between slow but powerful heavy weapons and quick but weaker light weapons) and ranged weaponry. He also has access to various combat skills, the use of which can turn the tide of many duels. Combat is dynamic, forcing us to stay mobile, avoid enemy blows, counter them and hit their weak spots.

Along the way we find treasure, which we can use to unlock more powerful abilities and weapons. In-between slaughtering our way through the stages we return to HallowTown, where we can purchase healing potions, craft new weapons and spells or increase our inventory capacity.

Technical aspects

The visuals of Death or Treat are colorful, cartoonish and easily readable. The game's soundtrack creates a distinctive Halloween atmosphere.
