A combination of an RPG and a simulation game, allowing us to run our own store. The gameplay in Discounty involves ordering goods, placing them on the shelves, serving customers and making sure that the place is clean. We can also develop relations with the residents of Blomkest after hours.
The Danish development studio Crinkle Cut Games has been on the industry map since 2021. The debut project of this group of developers is Discounty, an RPG with simulation elements.
The game takes us to the fictional port town of Blomkest, where we arrive at the invitation of our aunt. The task that awaits us here is to manage the titular store and transform it into a thriving business, and consequently - restore the former glory to the whole of Blomkest.
In Discounty we watch the action from a bird's eye view. We can control a character to whom we give a name and an individual appearance.
Our main task during the game is running a store. For this purpose, we need to design aisles, arrange goods on shelves, place decorations, and ensure cleanliness both in the store itself and in the warehouse.
Additionally, we handle customer service, doing everything we can to prevent them from having to stand in long queues. Meeting their requirements is difficult in that each of them has a unique personality, which is responsible for their behavior during visits to the store.
For our store to be successful, both customers and product suppliers are essential. This makes it worthwhile to explore the town "after hours" and get to know its residents. Since the local residents do not like newcomers, we must win their friendship.
In this way, we acquire customers for the store, as well as contacts with manufacturers, with whom we can establish cooperation and sell their specialties. Supporting local entrepreneurs, on the other hand, is causing the whole of Blomkest to start flourishing again.
The money we earn can be allocated for the development of the store, gradually expanding its assortment, extending the entire facility, as well as investing in advertising.
The two-dimensional graphics of Discounty were created using pixel art technique.

TheGamer: 4 / 5 by Branden Lizardi
If you want a charming, easy-to-follow game about managing a supermarket, and don’t mind if the story isn’t the most engaging, then this is a fantastic pick and I definitely recommend this. If you want super complex storefront mechanics or need a deep, well-developed plot, then you might find this one underwhelming.

Discounty isn’t trying to reinvent the management sim genre, but it doesn’t need to. It knows exactly what it wants to be: a cozy, addictive, and surprisingly deep game about running your own small-town discount store. From the satisfying daily routines to the playful chaos of a busy day, from the charming townsfolk to the rewarding progression, it all comes together into a package that kept me grinning the whole way through.

If you’re a fan of the cosy simulation genre, then Discounty offers a 20+ hour experience that is fun to engage with. It’s charming, colourful and well designed. Nothing is ever too complex, and despite a few moments where controls are a little fiddly, on the whole it’s an excellent indie title. It takes a lot for this type of game to keep me invested all of the time, but Discounty hooked me from the start.
