Fans of classic RPGs, as well as lovers of MMO-type produc?ons, make up a very large audience. The authors of the game described here, Dreadmyst, decided to meet both these groups by creating their MMORPG based on their own engine and making it available completely free of charge (non-profit).
In Dreadmyst, we view events in an isometric view. The action of the game takes place in a fairly standard realized fantasy world, which we traverse in the skin of a character representing one of four classes.
We are given at our disposal a paladin (equipped with a shield and white weapons), a mage (using staffs and horns to cast spells), a hunter (making use of bows and daggers) and a priest (wielding shields, staffs and mace).
Although we can explore the land as lone wolves, due to the fact that it is teeming with enemies who often act in groups, it may be better to form a team of four with other players.
This way, each member of the team can take on one of the key roles, becoming a tank and taking most of the damage, a healer supporting his companions or a damage dealer (DPS) focused on eliminating enemies.
Both ranked opponents and powerful bosses stand in our way. The latter reside especially in dungeons, and coordination with the whole team is needed to defeat them.
As we progress, we develop the character by improving its stats (strength, agility, willpower, intelligence, courage) and skills (which we select from different trees). In addition, our combat potential increases with the loot and materials we collect along the way.
Dreadmyst allows not only cooperation with other players, but also competition. The game includes arenas, where we can fight duels based on the principles of 1 on 1 or 2 on 2.
