Dream Engines: Nomad Cities is a city builder strategy, enriched with elements taken from action games. Game is a result of cooperation between Suncrash studio and Gamera Game company.

Plot

Dream Engines: Nomad Cities takes us on a journey to a steampunk, post-apocalyptic world, whose population has been decimated by dangerous plagues. Those who managed to survive, gather in small tribal communities, trying to face the constant threat of terrifying monsters. A chance to rescue them is the discovery of ancient designs of flying cities - technology that allows them to move their headquarters from place to place. In the course of the game, we play as the administrators of such metropolises, and our task is to constantly develop them and ensure the safety of their inhabitants.

Mechanics

In Dream Engines: Nomad Cities the action is shown from a top-down view. During the game we take control over a flying city belonging to our chosen tribe. After finding a place to land, our main task is to gather food supplies for the citizens and acquire resources necessary to expand the city. After meeting the basic needs of residents (who must have not only what to eat, but also, among other things, where to sleep) there's nothing else left for us to do but to start improving the metropolis.

We have to create efficient, automated production chains and build various buildings - from those that serve the citizens, through industrial buildings, to defensive structures. The city is a tasty morsel for monsters, which try to raze it to the ground, which makes their attacks constantly increasing. In addition, the space in which the most important elements of infrastructure must fit is limited; moreover, if the metropolis becomes too heavy, it will not be able to fly. Sooner or later we'll be forced to do the latter, either by constant invasions or running out of resources in a given area. Then there's nothing left to do but to find a new territory (locations are generated procedurally; there are various biomes waiting to be checked, such as deserts or swamps), where we decide to settle down.

The described game gives us also the Steambot. This is a machine which we take direct control over in order to explore the environment on our own and face our opponents in dynamic battles resembling action games. As we progress, we unlock various upgrades that allow us to both improve the robot and build more technologically advanced buildings or improve the city's defense systems.
