A third-person exploration game with an abstract visual style, made by the creators of the PixelJunk series. Dreams of Another has us playing as a character discovering dreamlike locations. The weapons in the game aren't used for destruction, but instead for shooting at the fog and creating new things.
The independent studio Q-Games has made its mark in the history of video games primarily through the PixelJunk series. Nevertheless, from time to time, developers from Kyoto engage in various "side projects." One of them is Dreams of Another described here, which is an exploratory action game. A unique aspect of this game is that shooting does not destroy the environment, but creates it.
In Dreams of Another we view the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
During the game we play as two characters, the Man in Pajamas and the Wandering Soldier. We explore colorful, dreamlike locations and uncover a story conveyed through dialogues conducted not only with NPCs but also with objects.
Although our characters carry firearms, they operate in an unusual way. The environment is covered with a kind of "fog", and by shooting at it, we gradually discover its subsequent elements. Besides a machine gun, we can also acquire a rocket launcher, which allows us to "uncover" larger areas of terrain and the objects within them in one go.
The graphics in Dreams of Another are maintained in a unique, abstract style. The gameplay is accompanied by music composed by Bayion (Tomohisa Kuramitsu), who is also the director of this project.

Game Ratings for Dreams of Another Video Game.
Rectify Gaming: 6 / 10 by Ali Amir
Dreams of Another is less a game and more an experience, one that lingers long after waking. While the visuals and ambient music create a haunting yet beautiful mood, the gameplay focuses on environmental storytelling and puzzle-solving. The smooth performance offers value for players interested in narrative variation. Even the flaws become part of the experience, reminding you that dreams themselves rarely conclude neatly. The world, though fragile and unstable, feels alive in a way that forces you to pay attention to the small details.
Gamer Social Club: 8 / 10 by Daire Behan
Dreams of Another is a wonderful exploration of the dreams, memory, materialism, and so much more. While there are points where it feels like some narrative elements outstay their welcome and there are some technical issues that can break the immersion, Q-Games and Baiyon have delivered a charming story and world that I have kept thinking about since the credits rolled.
