EA Sports FC is a series of sports games dedicated to soccer, which took the place of the FIFA brand in the catalog of Electronic Arts after the latter ended its cooperation with the International Federation of Football (FIFA). EA Sports FC 27 is the fourth installment of the series, which has yet to be officially announced.
According to unofficial reports in November 2025, the biggest new feature introduced in EA Sports FC 27 is expected to be an open world mode. In January 2026, however, Electronic Arts registered the trademark FC The Grounds, which is most likely its name.
The module is expected to allow free exploration of so-called districts, or areas thematically related to countries known for their love of soccer. In addition, the open world of EA Sports FC 27 is to include a "dedicated community space for players," offering, among other things, the opportunity to play a variety of mini-games.
EA Sports FC, by the way, would not be the first sports game ever to offer an open world. For some time now, such can be found, for example, in the basketball series NBA 2K from Visual Concepts, as well as in the WWE 2K series from the same studio.
