Egony is a strategy that puts the player in the position of the leader of a faction trying to gain control over the so-called Reserve. The game combines both real-time (constructing buildings and recruiting troops requires a specific amount of time) and turn-based (mainly the combat system) elements. The title was created by the Polish independent studio BoomTownGames.
The game starts on the map level, through which we gain access both to our base and to the locations the plundering of which is our main task. Such places are divided into so-called parcels – we gain control over them by fighting in turn-based clashes. The player units are located on the left side of the screen and the opponents are on the right. During the clash we have the possibility of choosing a specific hero and a type of attack, and then to indicate the target. We only have 30 seconds to move in each turn. The troops themselves are presented in a clear form of cards – with a picture, a short description of special rules and the value of attack.
After taking over the plot, we can manage its development – the game allows building structures that generate money, or recruiting specific types of units. Thus, the more of these types of points on the map we control, the greater our capabilities are. This is linked, for example, to the increase of the power of the army, with the use of which we cross the Reserve.
A characteristic feature of Egony are the so-called Hegosi – powerful individuals, for whose recruitment we pay with the experience we gained. Thanks to their skills, they have a significant impact on the game, both in combat and within the strategic layer. Hegos can be created by yourself, or rented from other players (and also made available for rent). The existence of this online component does not mean that Egony is a multiplayer game – the title created by BoomTownGames has only a single player mode.
Egony is characterized by a simple, two-dimensional graphic design, based on the drawn charts. The artistic style is coherent and reflects the atmosphere of the game well.
