Europa Universalis IV: Rule Britannia is an expansion to the fourth installment in the popular series of historical strategy games. This is not a standalone expansion. Similarly to the base game, Rule Britannia was developed by Paradox.
Rule Britannia is the second one of the so-called Immersion Packs for Europa Universalis IV. These expansions focus on developing options and content regarding particular areas around the world. As the name might suggest, the expansion described herein focuses on Great Britain.
Upon starting the game, players are taken to 1400s' England and discover that the country is in a difficult position, tired after civil wars and religious conflicts. One's objective is to turn this land into the empire like nobody has seen before in terms of trade, army, and industry.
This expansion implements new decision trees into the mission system that affect England, Scotland, and Ireland. Moreover, this add-on introduces previously unavailable naval doctrines that allow players to prepare general strategies for particular fleets that result in trade bonuses, higher efficiency in battles, and better maintenance of the ships, etc..
Rule Britannia develops also economic elements that revolve around the initial stages of the industrial revolution, thus later on more developed provinces can acquire and utilize coal increasing their productivity and development speed. The add-on described herein introduces also the innovation rewarding system providing players with different bonuses when their country is the first one to master a given technology e.g. including the decreasing the energy costs.
Moreover, Europa Universalis IV: Rule Britannia expands the list of religions by adding the Church of England that opens before players new facilitations and decisions. The last but not least among the new elements include the option to share knowledge and share solutions with allied nations.
