  • Fun Movement and Exploration: The game features enjoyable traversal mechanics, including double jumps and dashes, which enhance exploration and combat dynamics.
  • Visuals and World Design: The game is praised for its art style and level design, creating an engaging environment that players found visually appealing.
  • Compelling Characters: The dynamic between the main character, Nor, and her god companion, Enki, received positive feedback for its humor and depth.
  • Decent Length: Many players mentioned that the game's length (around 15-20 hours) felt appropriate, with enough content to keep them engaged without overstaying its welcome.

The main cons of the game

  • Technical Issues: Players reported various bugs, including audio stuttering, janky controls, and performance issues, which detracted from the overall experience.
  • Combat Imbalance: While the combat was praised, several users noted that enemy attacks could feel unpredictable, with some attacks lacking clear telegraphing, making parrying difficult.
  • Limited Boss Variety: The game features only a few major bosses, which some players found disappointing.
  • Shallow Story and Characters: The narrative and character development were often described as underwhelming and lacking depth, with some players finding the dialogue and story progression disjointed.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • New Game Plus (NG+): Players expressed a desire for a NG+ mode to continue using their builds after completing the game.
  • More Bosses and Enemy Variety: A common request was for a greater variety of bosses and more complex enemy designs to enhance combat encounters.
  • Improved Audio Mixing: Many players pointed out issues with audio mixing that made dialogue hard to hear or inconsistent in volume.
  • Better Exploration Rewards: Some users felt that the exploration mechanics could be improved by offering more meaningful rewards for discovering hidden areas or collectibles.

Summary

  • In summary, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is seen as an enjoyable, albeit flawed, entry in the souls-like genre, with engaging combat and a charming world, but it suffers from technical issues and a lack of depth in its story and character development. Players recommend it, especially on sale, for those looking for a lighter take on the genre.
