A first-person RPG dungeon crawler filled with a lot of humor. In FlyKnight we play as a fly trying to defeat the evil witch. We go through handcrafted dungeons, fighting enemies, gathering loot and searching for secrets. The game can be played alone or in 4-player online coop.
FlyKnight is a humorous RPG dungeon crawler, primarily inspired by King's Field from 1996. Its graphic design was modeled on that of RuneScape.
The game was created by an independent developer using the pseudonym Wabbaboy and evolved from a game jam project under the same title, which was made available for free. The entire project was created as a break from working on this creator's main work, namely the game Sorceress.
FlyKnight transports us to a fantasy world inhabited by anthropomorphic flies. During the game we play as a squire from the FlyKnights order, and our task is to defeat the witch Lunamoth and lift the curse, due to which both our hero and the remaining flies cannot grow wings. Our protagonist is to receive a noble title as a reward upon completion of their mission.
In FlyKnight the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The adventure leads us through handcrafted dungeons, teeming with enemies, loot, and side paths (with more foes and items waiting to be acquired).
On our way, we face both normal enemies and powerful bosses. During dynamic battles, we fight in close combat, using melee weapons, or keep opponents at a distance, making use of bows. The game allows us to dismember targets or crush their heads.
In breaks from exploring the underground labyrinth, we can relax by fishing. It's worth doing it, as nutritious aquatic creatures are a source of useful enhancements.
We can play FlyKnight alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet for up to 4 people.
The graphic design of FlyKnight is maintained in a low poly style (the whole is based on a small number of clearly visible polygons). The animations are not smooth, but "jerky", which may evoke associations with dungeon crawlers straight from the 1990s.
