A first person action RPG with a lot of humor, serving as a parody to such titles as TES V: Skyrim, West of Loathing, or Supraland. The RPG takes us to the Dungeon Island where we can have our adventures, including the exploration of a commercial dungeon or dealing with enemies (using weapons, firearms or magic).
Dionysus Acroreites is an indie developer who is behind the creation of The RPG. As the title suggests, we are dealing with an RPG game (specifically - action RPG) that doesn't take itself too seriously. This game is full of absurd humor and is a parody of works such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, West of Loathing, or Supraland.
In The RPG we watch the action from the first-person perspective (FPP).
During the game, we end up on Dungeon Island, which is ruled by the Cool King. We gain access to an open world, and as we explore it, we meet its inhabitants, perform quests, venture into dungeons (after previously acquiring the Adventure Seeker's Ticket), face dangers, and gradually uncover the secrets of this piece of land.
As it quickly turns out, not everything here is as it may seem. The king is not necessarily as cool as he is portrayed, monsters treated after each of our escapades are already tired of experiencing their own "Groundhog Day", while the people responsible for maintaining the dungeons (they are the ones who light the torches and set traps on the next floors) have to work even on weekends. As if that wasn't enough, the Glitchy Dragon created as our antagonist, doesn't necessarily have to be one.
The mechanics also suggest that we are dealing with a parody. In The RPG healing is performed by stuffing food into wounds, the items we collect are simply "loot" (so we don't have to worry about what to sell and what to keep), and the main enemy constantly breaks down and can break the rules of the game.
Fighting against opponents plays an important role here. The fights are quick, and we eliminate enemies using melee weapons (primarily swords), magic that allows us to set fire or freeze opponents, as well as firearms, led by a handheld cannon (to which we can attach a torch to see targets in the dark).
The game also implemented a character development system, so over time we can face increasingly bigger challenges. On the other hand, the developer deliberately spared us from elaborate skill trees and complicated equipment management.
The RPG uses the Unity engine. The graphic design was maintained in a low poly style (the whole thing was based on a relatively small number of polygons).
