Franchise Hockey Manager 9 is a sports strategy game developed for the 2022/2023 ice hockey season. Game, developed by German studio Out of the Park Development, uses the license of the professional organization National Hockey League (NHL), so the title features real teams and games, including the prestigious Stanley Cup.

Fans of the series can import game state records from Franchise Hockey Manager 8 to continue running their favorite team, with all the improvements guaranteed by the ninth installment.

Game mechanics

FHM9 is an elaborate production that allows you to manage a field hockey team. Our tasks include disposing of finances, hiring employees, preparing contracts for players or taking care of the development of future sports stars. We are responsible for pre-game tactics and modifying them during meetings with rivals shown in the form of two-dimensional visualization. FHM9 also sees the return of the historical mode known from previous installments, which allows you to lead a team since the founding of the NHL in 1917.

The developers have put teams from leagues around the world in our hands, allowing us to take control of, among others, the American New York Rangers, the Canadian Toronto Maple Leafs, the Australian Melbourne Mustangs or the Swedish Linkoping HC. In addition to domestic games, national teams' struggles, both senior and junior, are also available.

Novelties

The ninth installment of the FHM series introduces a number of minor and major improvements. These have affected, among others, the running of college teams (more than 60 teams), which have received unique challenges and mechanics adapted to the level of competition. The developers developed a special system for them to recruit young players, manage scholarships or qualify for the postseason tournament.

Changes are also evident in the approach to team members. The system of team harmony can be affected by the off-field antics of stars leading to conflicts and, consequently, a decline in morale. In FHM9 we also gained the option to postpone the treatment of injuries, thus preserving the possibility to field a player in the most important matches. However, his skills are diminished, and the risk of deterioration of his health also increases.
