Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds PC

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds is a first-person science fiction shooter. The game was created for multiplayer mode and virtual reality technology. InXile Entertainment is responsible for the creation of this game (known for its RPGs - among others Torment: Tides of Numenera and three parts of Wasteland cycle).

Plot

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds takes place in an abandoned military base located somewhere in the Antarctic/South Ocean.

Mechanics

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds is quite a classic first person shooter in which we fight both other people and monsters controlled by AI. Several different maps are available to users. There can be a maximum of twenty players (ten per side) in the battles.

Players can use a number of tools (e.g. grenades, first aid kits, turrets), as well as various weapons (there are rifles and pistols in the game). What is important, weapons must be held realistically in one or two hands and operated (e.g. reloading or changing the shooting mode) using motion controllers.

Players can also equip special suits, thanks to which they gain access to additional combat abilities - e.g. faster running or greater resistance. In addition, defeating monsters controlled by the computer allows you to gain resources to strengthen your equipment.

Game modes

In Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds we can play alone or with others. The basis of the gameplay are multiplayer modes (classic Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch) focused on PvP (player vs. environment) gameplay. In this game you can also find some elements of PvE (player vs. environment) - while competing with other living enemies, participants of the game must also fight with strange, biomechanical creatures from another world.

Technical aspects

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds has a three-dimensional graphic design. The graphics do not impress, but look good, especially when compared to other productions using virtual reality technology. Both the game world and the character and monster models are detailed, but the animations leave a bit to be desired. The entire game is kept in a heavy atmosphere, taking full advantage of the science fiction genre.

Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds requires virtual reality sets to work. The game is compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Valve Index models.
