An action game with numerous RPG elements. Similar to its predecessor, it is a spin-off title in the Dragon Quest franchise by Square Enix, and although it retains a similar atmosphere, it offers several new solutions. The plot of Dragon Quest Heroes II references the events of its predecessor. Despite the lack of any direct links to the core Dragon Quest productions, there are a few familiar faces to see here.
Dragon Quest Heroes II is an action game with numerous RPG elements. Similarly to its predecessor, it is a spin-off installment of the popular Dragon Quest series, and although it maintains a similar atmosphere, it offers several new solutions. The PS4, PC and etc. version was developed by Square Enix.
The plot references to the events of the previous installment of the subseries but is not directly linked to the games in the core series. The heroes on which the action is focused were created solely for the purposes of the new story. While exploring the world, though, we will encounter numerous familiar faces that remind us what universe we are in.
Dragon Quest Heroes II continues the tradition initiated by its predecessor and is a classical slasher that puts an emphasis on fast-paced action, spectacular blows, and breathtaking stunts. We have to constantly fight hordes of enemies and finish them off with the available arsenal. Apart from ordinary attacks, we can also block and use special abilities. Fighting average enemies, even in great numbers, does not require us to use any advanced tactics, but the boss fights force us to apply more complicated strategies if we want to succeed. Despite the combat focus, the title offers an extensive plot and many dialogues.
The PS4, PC and etc. version of Dragon Quest Heroes II is characterized by strongly cartoonish visual style typical of manga and anime. The available characters, designed by the legendary Akira Toriyama, were transferred to the third dimension, though. Thanks to the console's hardware, it was possible to use advanced lighting and particle effects in the game.

Game Ratings for Dragon Quest Heroes II Video Game.
Shacknews: 7 / 10 by Josh Barnes
If you didn't play the first Dragon Quest Heroes, then no worries, because the two are not connected in any way. Even the classic DQ characters that return from the first game make no mention of it. DQH2 is a standalone story about two cousins who live in a world that has known peace for a thousand years, but now someone is roaming around the world brewing trouble, convincing kingdoms to go to war. It's your job to solve this mystery and protect the peace. It's not a terribly intricate story, but it does feel at home in a Dragon Quest setting, and is largely enjoyable despite how nonsense it becomes towards the end.
Metro GameCentral: 5 / 10
Dragon Quest continues to be the most successful partner for Dynasty Warriors, but the pace of improvement remains painfully slow.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Miguel Concepcion
Omega Force's thoughtful mix of familiar Dragon Quest Heroes designs and new features not only makes this sequel engrossing, but it also shows this side series' potential for future installments. It makes for a satisfying hack-and-slasher that is not only a great Warriors spinoff, but also an effective gateway to the main Dragon Quest series.
