The game focuses on restoring a work of professional driver and includes the races as well as all the events which happen between the competitions. The authors have prepared a wide selection of cars, which include mass produced models as well as prototypes. All cars can be modified at the discretion of the players. The cars are used to compete in the twenty-two different locations and more than hundred routes.

GRID: Autosport for PC, AND and etc. has the most comprehensive content in the history of the series, introducing many innovations, while retaining all elements which fans liked in the earlier parts. The brand enthusiasts should especially please the news of the return the view behind the wheel, which was missed in GRID 2.

Race Driver / GRID Game Series

The cult series of video games dedicated to the theme of car racing. It was created and is still being developed by the British company Codemasters Software. To date, eleven major installments of the series have been released, which has changed its title and formula a couple of times during its long history. Initially, the series became famous for its high level of realism (unattainable, for instance, for Gran Turismo), later its hallmark became a huge variety of available routes, vehicles, and motorsport disciplines (from all forms of traditional rivalry on asphalt, through drifting, to rallying), as well as an advanced destruction model. It currently stands out from the competition with its aggressive artificial intelligence and exciting, unpredictable races.

NZGamer: 7.5 / 10 by Keith Milburn

The driving in GRID Autosport is fantastic, and certainly more in-line with Codemaster's (and the fan's) vision of what their series should be. While the singleplayer A.I. detracts from the overall experience, and the lack of personality is disappointing, these are all just minor issues that orbit a game with a solid foundation.

Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Chris Scullion

With over 100 cars and more than 25 different racing venues set over five distinct disciplines (as well as bonus DLC ones like destruction derby and drag racing), GRID Autosport is that rarest of beasts: a jack of all trades that doesn't sacrifice quality as a result. The addition of all previously released paid console DLC – right down to the cynical XP boost – is extremely welcome, but the complete removal of all local and online multiplayer features means this a strictly solo affair, and that might be a turn-off for many. Still, that doesn't change the fact that this is one of the best racing games on Switch.

The main pros of the game

  • Diverse Racing Disciplines: The game features various racing types including Touring, Open Wheel, Endurance, Tuner, and Street racing, offering a wide range of gameplay experiences.
  • Solid Driving Mechanics: Players appreciate the driving physics, which balance between arcade and simulation, providing a fun and engaging racing experience.
  • Graphics and Sound: The visuals are generally praised, especially with the 4K texture pack, and the sound design, including engine noises and the atmosphere, is well-received.
  • Multiplayer and Online Features: Although the multiplayer scene is somewhat inactive, the game includes robust online features, including clubs and weekly challenges, which can enhance replayability.
  • Car Customization: While limited, there are tuning options available, allowing players to adjust their vehicles to fit their racing style.

The main cons of the game

  • Career Mode Limitations: Players have criticized the career mode for being lackluster, as it does not allow players to build their own teams or choose their cars, leading to a feeling of disconnection from the racing experience.
  • AI Issues: The AI can be overly aggressive and sometimes behaves in a way that disrupts the flow of the game, leading to frustration during races.
  • Cockpit View Quality: The cockpit view has been described as blurry and poorly implemented, which detracts from the overall immersion for players who prefer that perspective.
  • Repetitive Gameplay: Many players noted that the game can feel repetitive, with a lack of variety in race tracks and events, especially in the career mode.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Team Management: Unlike the original GRID, players cannot manage their own teams or choose their teammates, which many fans of the series missed.
  • In-depth Customization: There’s a desire for more extensive car customization options, similar to what was available in previous titles.
  • Dynamic Weather and Time of Day: Players expressed disappointment over the lack of dynamic weather effects and time changes during races, which could have added depth to the racing experience.
  • Improved AI Behavior: Users are looking for smarter AI that can provide a more challenging and realistic racing experience without resorting to aggressive tactics that disrupt gameplay.

Summary

  • Overall, while GRID Autosport has its strengths in gameplay mechanics and graphics, it suffers from several shortcomings that prevent it from being a definitive racing title, especially for fans of the original GRID series.
