Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is an RPG card game taking place in the world known from J.K. Rowling's novels and their movie adaptations. It was developed by Chinese NetEase studio, which has already released Diablo Immortal and Marvel: Super War, as well as the warmly welcomed Naraka Bladepoint.

The game is set 10 years after the events of the last Harry Potter book, and the protagonist is a new Hogwarts student of Muggle descent (i.e. from an ordinary, non-magical family). Like Harry Potter, who long ago defeated Voldemort, the teenager learns about the wizarding world through Rubeus Hagrid and goes with him to the famous school of magic.

However, for the young wizard awaits not only the school life. Soon after the assignment ceremony, the mysterious disappearance of a student occurs.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened combines elements of a story-driven RPG with card games. During the game, we explore Hogwarts and its surroundings, attend wizarding classes and try to solve the mystery of Ivy Warrington's disappearance. There is also rivalry between the four dormitories in the form of group challenges or duels, as well as the chance to meet characters from the Harry Potter books and films.

In combat, we use a self-made deck of cards that represent spells, characters, magical creatures, etc. However, the battles take place not in turn-based mode, but in real time. Players can move freely around the board and use their cards as skills with cooldowns, with them being replaced by more copies from the deck after use. This, combined with spells that strengthen allies and a limited number of mana points, means that skirmishes require a bit of strategy.

In addition, game also features a kind of rhythm gameplay based on QTE (dancing in the ballroom) and matches of the iconic wizarding sport - quidditch. These take the form of 3-on-3 confrontations, and the gameplay is all about clicking on the right spot on the screen to dodge Bludgers, capture a Quaffle or - if we're lucky - catch a Golden Snitch.

Game modes

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened allows you to play solo, including trips to the Forbidden Forest as a PvE activity. However, fans of competition can take part in online duels of up to three-person teams or visit the quidditch pitch and play a match against other players.

Technical aspects

Game features fairly simple 3D graphics in a slightly cartoonish style with animated card illustrations. The game also supports a voice chat feature and includes gacha production-style micropayments.
