The eleventh expansion to the popular card game developed by Blizzard. The players are given 135 new cards inspired by Kobolds and the catacombs they inhabit, which are also filled with many monsters and treasures. Moreover, this expansion introduces the single player mode into the game.
Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs is the eleventh expansion to Hearthstone, a free-to-play card game for PC, iOS and AND. This add-on has been developed by Blizzard, also known for creating the base game.
Mechanics
Another expansion to Hearthstone follows the trail set by the previous add-ons by introducing 135 new cards, including both exclusive for one of the nine available classes and available to all. This time around, the main theme of the cards revolves around the rat-like Kobold species and the catacombs they dwell. These underground tombs are also inhabited by various monsters and hide many treasures, both of which are featured on some of the new cards. There are also rare legendary cards, including the more powerful weapons for each class.
The Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs expansion for PC, iOS and AND introduces a new ability – Recruit. After playing a card with this ability, the player can summon one random ally from his deck onto the battlefield. Moreover, players can now enjoy two new card types, featuring Spellstones (each time the player has one of those on his hand and meets certain conditions, the card grows stronger) and Unidentified cards (they gain additional effects after they are drawn from the deck).
Game Modes
The mainstay of Hearthstone: Kobolds and Catacombs is the new single-player game mode called Dungeon Run. The player begins with a 10-card deck of a chosen class, with which he or she has to defeat eight increasingly difficult opponents chosen randomly from the set of forty-eight enemies. Each victory allows you to add new cards to your deck, including the powerful Treasures, which are unavailable anywhere else. Should you be defeated, you lose all the acquired cards and have to start again.
