Yet another joke simulation game, a genre which, contrary to any logical reasoning, keeps gaining crowds of fans. The hero of this game, developed by an independent team at Bossa Studios, is a slice of bread, and the player’s job is to take it all the way to a toaster. Gameplay mechanics in I Am Bread are pretty complex, the biggest difficulty being controlling all four corners of the toast separately.
As the title suggest, I Am Bread is an advanced simulator of… a slice of bread and a tale of its “epic”, exciting journey into the inside of a toaster. The game was developed by an independent team at Bossa Studios, also known for developing the Surgeon Simulator series. With their next product, they wanted to prove that you could make a simulator of just about everything. I Am Bread’s prototype was rigged up in just 48 hours, but the creators found the results so entertaining that they decided to make it into a full game.
Contrary to what you may expect, I Am Bread for PC, PS4 and etc. features pretty complex gameplay mechanics. The main difficulty involves controlling all four corners of the toast separately. The ultimate goal of the game is to make the toast reach the inside of a toaster in as good a shape as possible. However, since you can only make simple moves on flat surfaces, this seemingly trival task becomes a challenging adventure, in which you have to prove your agility, perceptiveness, and logical thinking.
The game’s major asset is the advanced physics engine, which simulates realistic behavior of all elements of environments. Some of the household tools and devices can be used for making your task easier. Take a fan, for example, which can prove to be an excellent catapult that can greatly help you get closer to your destination. All the time the clock is ticking. What makes things even more difficult, is that you have to keep an eye on two important statistics of the “hero”: the bread’s edibility and deliciousness. After all, who would want to taste a toast all covered in dirt?
The graphics in I Am Bread PC, PS4 and etc. is similar to what the studio’s previous products represented, so it is characterized by simplicity and clarity. A game by Bossa Studios could not, of course, miss out on a large dose of humor. While playing you can hear pleasant, hearty music in the background, evoking the classic animated motion pictures by Disney.

Game Ratings for I Am Bread Video Game.
Push Square: 5 / 10 by Simon Fitzgerald
I Am Bread is a quirky title that can be a lot of bun at times, and it will certainly fill a hole before a much more substantial meal comes along. However, the title's control, camera, and performance issues do put a dampener on things, so unless you absolutely love silly experiences of this ilk, we'd recommend keeping your dough in your wallet and putting it towards something a little less stale.
GamesRadar+: 2 / 5 by Samuel Horti
I Am Bread's amusing premise quickly shows signs of mold. Early giggles hide a frustrating game with control issues, wonky physics, and a lack of meaningful content. It's simply not fun to play.
COGconnected: 65 / 100 by Anthony Gomez
I Am Bread is for a very special kind of gamer. It's for a patient soul, someone who appreciates the absurd, and someone who wants a break from the norm. I appreciate I Am Bread for what it is and the hilarity that comes along with physics based games. But it's a take it or leaven it deal in this case. Either you'll love I Am Bread for its quirky charm, or you'll hate it for it's challenging and thin gameplay.
