Starfighter Inc. is a PC-based space simulator developed with online battles in mind. This is the debut project of Impeller Studios, founded by one of the creators of Star Wars: X-Wing, David Wessman.

Story

Like most productions offering only multiplayer mode, Starfighter Inc. can't boast an extensive story background. The action takes place in the future, on the outskirts of a part of the galaxy colonized by mankind. This is where the interests of ruthless corporations, which use mercenaries to fight for influence, clash. It is in them that the players take part, earning money by engaging in space clashes.

Mechanics

The game enables us to take part in multiplayer battles fought between squadrons of starships. Unlike in most space simulators, which do not really have much in common with simulations, Starfighter Inc. remains true to the laws of physics and shows quite convincingly how this type of skirmishes could really look like in 150-200 years.

In the game we can fly both single-person fighters and larger units, the operation of which requires cooperation of several players. We won't see truly universal models here, so the squadron members have to work closely together to be able to effectively perform the tasks needed to win in several game modes.

The fact that each ship is built of at least a dozen segments, damage to which cause different effects, adds to the fun.

Technical aspects

The game offers a powerful physics engine, which ensures realistic reproduction of space flights, and detailed visuals. An additional attraction is full support for virtual reality devices, including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and any device using the OSVR library available in the open source model.
