OpenCritic
A TPP adventure arcade game, in which we must climb a mighty tower. Jusant tasks us with monitoring the protagonist's stamina, looking for alternate paths and using our equipment, such as ropes and grapples.
Jusant is a climbing focused arcade adventure game. It was developed by Don't Nod, also responsible for games such as Life is Strange, Campyr and Harmony: The Fall of Reverie.
Plot
Jusant is set in a fantasy world. We play as a young man climbing a massive, looming tower to discover the secrets of its builders - an ancient civilization. He's accompanied by Ballast, a very helpful water creature.
Mechanics
Jusant is a third-person game (TPP).The player must climb the mighty tower through various biomes - rocky ones, rainy and windy ones, plant-covered ones and snowy ones. There are also dark caves to explore and ancient ruins holding mysterious devices.
The climb is challenging, as we must monitor our protagonist's stamina and pause occasionally to let him rest. We must also look out for paths to keep climbing and use our equipment. The grapple and rope the hero's equipped with protect him from lethal falls, letting him overcome chasms and other obstacles.
Ballast deserves a separate mention, as it can not only accompany the hero but also help him, providing him with hints and awakening nature along the way.
Technical aspects
Jusant makes use of a colorful low poly artstyle. The soundtrack is impressive and atmospheric.

Windows Central: 4.5 / 5 by Zachary Boddy
Apart from brief moments of frustration, Jusant is a beautiful and relaxing puzzle-adventure game.
VideoGamer: 8 / 10 by Ben Borthwick
A contemplative adventure that won’t set the world on fire, but its logical and tactile climbing mechanics are genuinely fun and present a compelling proposition to keep exploring in spite of its relatively short length.
Game Informer: 9 / 10 by Marcus Stewart
Jusant is my favorite Don’t Nod title since the original Life is Strange and is one of the year’s best gems. The climbing mechanics are so smart and well-executed that I hope other games take notes. Add an inviting presentation, a pleasant soundtrack, and an alluring air of mystery and isolation reminiscent of Team Ico’s best works, and Jusant is a rewarding expedition.
