Langrisser I & II is a compilation of remakes of the first two parts of the series of turn-based strategies started in 1991, enriched with elements taken from the production of jRPG type. The compilation was developed by the Chara-ani Corporation studio and released by NIS America, the company responsible for the brand.

The games included in the set take us on a journey to a fantastic world for which the forces of good and evil fight. In the first part of the series, the players take on the role of Prince Ledin, who must defend the kingdom of Baldea against the temptations of the Dalsis Empire. In the second part of the cycle we take control of the hero named Elwin, and our task is to resolve the conflict between the two opposing factions and face the forces of darkness. It is worth noting that in the Langrisser II we make decisions that determine how the story that is told will end.

Langrisser games were divided into scripts, during which we learn more about the plot and fight fierce battles with enemy armies. In each of them, the creators set specific tasks, such as protecting a particular person, defeating all opponents or eliminating an enemy leader.

Clashes take place in turn-based mode, and we lead to them the commanders at the head of an army of several dozen people, over which we do not have direct control. Depending on the commander's class, cavalry, infantry and special water and air units can be placed at his side, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

As they progress, heroes gain experience points and increasingly powerful abilities, and their combat potential is increased by special items. It should be remembered that the death of heroes on the battlefield is permanent.

Technical aspects

Against the background of the originals, the productions forming a set of Langrisser I & II are distinguished primarily by their new audiovisual setting. In addition, the authors have introduced a number of improvements to adapt the mechanics of the game to modern standards.
