Although TPP action adventure games have led the way among Legacy of Kain productions over the years, there has been no shortage of side projects representing different genres. In this group one can find Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, an action platform game with adventure elements, developed by Bit Bot Media studio founded in 2024 and Crystal Dynamics company.

Gameplay and three characters

In Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, we view events from the side. The discussed item takes us to the fantastic land of Nosgoth and puts three characters at our disposal. We are talking about the vampire Cain, his betrayed deputy Raziel (whom we get to know as a knight of the Sarafan Order and watch his transformation into a vampire) and the vampire Elaleth (who brings out fast, constant attacks). Each of them has unique abilities, which translate mainly into the fighting style.

GameOnly: 3.5 / 5 by Rafał Gubała

I can’t wholeheartedly recommend this game to everyone. It simply doesn’t offer enough content to be a worthwhile choice for platformer fans. For fans of Legacy of Kain, however, it may be interesting, especially considering the role assigned to Elaleth. From my perspective, it’s worth checking out if Nosgoth drew you in with its dark atmosphere. In that case, Ascendance might turn out to be an enjoyable diversion for a few hours.

Kain deserves more, and I hope this doesn’t deter them from revisiting it. Give the game to an established team with a larger budget and restore the legacy the series left behind. For now, I simply cannot recommend this game, even to hardest of hardcore fans.
