Legends of Kingdom Rush is an RPG with roguelike elements, which is a spin-off of Kingdom Rush series launched in 2011. It was developed by Ironhide Game Studio team, which takes care of the brand.
Legends of Kingdom Rush takes us on a journey to a fantastic universe. The world, which was overrun by the Army of Darkness, faced an even greater threat. The servants of the Dark Lord and heroes who have so far defended the kingdom against them stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight against the new danger.
In Legends of Kingdom Rush we observe the action from a top-down view. We move through the world, walking through dense forests, dark wastelands and snowy mountain peaks, we participate in story-driven events that push the story forward (during which we have to make simple decisions), and most of all - we take part in battles. Skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, on arenas covered by a grid of hexagonal fields, and during them the key to success is proper positioning of characters and skillful use of their abilities.
In the game, we control one of six heroes: a holy paladin, a deadly assassin, an evil demon, a voodoo witch, a ranger and an elven avenger. As even the most powerful warrior can't do much in a clash with evil hordes, we have to choose their companions. Among 12 characters with different skills and fighting style we can find a sorceress, a dark knight, a barbarian, a dwarven bombardier or even a sasquatch. As we progress we expand the range of available subordinates.
In addition to the story campaign, in Legends of Kingdom Rush we can find daily challenges (with online rankings, which are a substitute for online competition), as well as a special Quick Play Arena mode, in which we receive a randomly generated team and face various challenges.
Graphics in Legends of Kingdom Rush is in colorful, cartoonish style known from other games from this series.

Saying that Legends of Kingdom Rush on PC doesn't feel legendary is not to say I didn't enjoy my time with the game. There is plenty of content to see, even through multiple playthroughs. Combat is a highlight, the AI does not let up on the harder difficulty. The leveling system, items, and dice rolls just don't do it for me here. This is for people who want small gameplay experiences, with a lot of replayability. That being said, Legends of Kingdom Rush has a pickup and play vibe that I can dig while binge-watching tv.

Legends of Kingdom Rush is a lot of fun, but its port to PC is a bit underwhelming. Lack of controller support for such a mechanically simple game is pretty lazy. There’s no new content, either, so players coming from the mobile version will have seen everything already. With such enjoyable gameplay and sense of style, Legends of Kingdom Rush deserves a more thorough makeover for PC and consoles, not just a basic port.

Legends of Kingdom Rush is a competent if unimaginative experience. The universe has some quirks, but most players will be able to instantly tell the inspiration for each character or enemy. The mechanics are decent and deliver some tense battle moments, but there’s nothing inherently new to engage with.
