Nintendo Life: 7 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln

LEGO The Incredibles is exactly the kind of inoffensive and family-friendly action adventure fun you'd expect from a TT Games offering. You're better off watching the film before you buy as it'll ruin the plot without a second thought, but with its activity-filled sandbox and the usual mix of platforming and puzzle-solving, it's an ideal way to keep younger fans happy once they leave the cinema. You just can't help but shake the feeling this should have been a LEGO Dimensions level pack rather than a full-game.

TrueAchievements: 3.5 / 5 by Mark Delaney

The bugs are annoying and the voice acting is just about as bad sometimes, but the open world crimefighting, Pixar cameos, and perfect pairing of these two brands makes LEGO The Incredibles a fun family game, even if it's not quite super.

The main pros of the game

  • Fun Gameplay: Many users found the game enjoyable, particularly praising the typical LEGO gameplay mechanics, including puzzle-solving, platforming, and combat.
  • Character Variety: The inclusion of various characters from the Incredibles franchise and other Pixar films was a highlight for many players, offering unique abilities and nostalgic moments.
  • Co-op Mode: The local co-op feature was well-received, allowing for collaborative play, which is ideal for families and friends.
  • Graphics and Presentation: The graphics were generally described as good, maintaining the colorful and playful style expected from LEGO games.
  • Voice Acting: The original cast members reprised their roles, adding authenticity to the game.
  • Exploration and Collectibles: The open-world environment and the ability to explore and collect items were noted as enjoyable aspects of the game.

The main cons of the game

  • Repetitive Gameplay: Some players felt that the gameplay could become monotonous, with predictable combat and puzzle-solving mechanics.
  • Story Order Confusion: The decision to start the game with Incredibles 2 before transitioning to the first movie was criticized as an odd choice that disrupted narrative flow.
  • Lack of Original Content: Several users expressed disappointment over the reliance on the movie plots, feeling that the game lacked creativity and innovation.
  • Minor Bugs and Performance Issues: There were reports of bugs and crashes, particularly on certain platforms like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, which affected gameplay experience.
  • Easier Difficulty: Some players noted that the game felt too easy, particularly for older or more experienced gamers.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • More Characters: Some players wished for a larger roster of characters from the broader Pixar universe rather than a focus on just the Incredibles.
  • Increased Challenge: There were calls for more challenging puzzles and gameplay mechanics, as some felt the game was too simplistic, especially for older players.
  • Original Storylines: A desire for original content and storylines outside of the movie plots was mentioned, with some suggesting that a broader Pixar-themed game could have been more engaging.
  • Improved Free Roam: Users felt that the open-world elements could have been more varied and engaging, as some side quests and collectibles felt repetitive.

Summary

  • Overall, LEGO® The Incredibles provides a fun, family-friendly experience that appeals to fans of the franchise, but it also faces criticism for its simplicity and reliance on existing movie content. Players generally recommend purchasing the game on sale due to its perceived value relative to gameplay length and content.
