A first-person survival game set in an open world, where we travel through the cold North American wilderness. Our main objectives in Long Drive North include finding food and water, but we also need to take care of our camper.
Staying in the wilderness of the northern United States can be a challenge even when the rest of the world is on its feet. However, the independent British studio Mindflair Games, creators of Long Drive North, decided to make this task more difficult in their survival game. It is forcing us to fight for survival after a disaster which turned this already remote area into a true snowy wasteland. The developers were inspired by games like The Long Dark and My Summer Car.
In Long Drive North the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game offers us an open world. Although we cover greater distances behind the wheel of an old camper, we can get out at any time to carefully explore the locations we visit.
Regularly organizing foot expeditions plays a key role here, as this is the only way we can acquire useful equipment (such as firearms) and other resources that enable us to survive. This primarily refers to food, which we find in the locations we visit or obtain in other ways (for example, by hunting). Over time, we also come across recipes that allow us to prepare better meals.
Apart from ensuring our character's stomach is full, we must pay attention to their thirst and fatigue indicators. The former requires access to drinking water, while the latter necessitates sleep. The conditions in the freezing north also pose a challenge, with storms being a deadly threat.
We also need to devote some time to the camper. Since our vehicle has seen better days, it can break down. Therefore, it's worth collecting spare parts for it (we can take them from abandoned cars and find them in ruined structures) so that we can dive under the hood and replace problematic components when needed. Naturally, we need fuel to drive, and we must regularly replenish its level.
All of this is important, because the camper is not only our means of transportation but also our mobile home.
Long Drive North can be played solo (we will be accompanied only by a faithful dog) or in online co-op mode for up to 4 people.
The graphics of Long Drive North are maintained in a low poly style (meaning they are based on a relatively small number of polygons).
