Staying in the wilderness of the northern United States can be a challenge even when the rest of the world is on its feet. However, the independent British studio Mindflair Games, creators of Long Drive North, decided to make this task more difficult in their survival game. It is forcing us to fight for survival after a disaster which turned this already remote area into a true snowy wasteland. The developers were inspired by games like The Long Dark and My Summer Car.

Gameplay

In Long Drive North the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game offers us an open world. Although we cover greater distances behind the wheel of an old camper, we can get out at any time to carefully explore the locations we visit.

The art of survival

Regularly organizing foot expeditions plays a key role here, as this is the only way we can acquire useful equipment (such as firearms) and other resources that enable us to survive. This primarily refers to food, which we find in the locations we visit or obtain in other ways (for example, by hunting). Over time, we also come across recipes that allow us to prepare better meals.
