Lumote is a charming, although complex and challenging hybrid of a platformer and a puzzle game. The game was developed by an independent Canadian studio Luminawesome Games, while Wired Productions published it.
Lumote takes us on a journey to the strange, glittering world, which is inhabited by creatures called Motes. The main character of the game is Lumote, who travels through this unique land and liberates it piece by piece from the dominion of the evil Mastermote.
In Lumote we observe the action from a top-down view. The game puts at our disposal a vast world, in which six towers containing a total of fifty puzzles are waiting to be visited. Each of them is inhabited by Motes with specific abilities. Areas controlled by Mastermote glow red and their hostile inhabitants try to obstruct us. Territories freed by Lumote radiate a blue glow, and their inhabitants are happy to help us on our journey.
Lumote can walk and jump, as well as take control of other Motes and make use of their individual abilities. We need these skills to solve increasingly difficult environmental puzzles. Although at first the challenges we encounter aren't too difficult, with each encounter with a Crumb the puzzles become more complex. What's interesting is that we can solve them in any order and at our own pace; nothing stands in the way of abandoning a problem for a while and going to another area, and returning to the problematic part of the world at a later date. Moreover, while exploring the land, we often have to jump on platforms and avoid traps set by Mastermote.
Audiovisual setting of Lumote can delight. The game world is full of bright colours and fanciful structures, in turn, the game is accompanied by a catchy, trance soundtrack.
