An explorative FPP game, in which we play as a photographer. Lushfoil Photography Sim has us traversing different locations from all around the world, taking photos.
Lushfoil Photography Sim is an exploration game with simulation elements. It was created by an indie Australian developer Matt Newell and published by Annapurna Interactive.
Lushfoil Photography Sim is a first-person game. Players must explore various areas and take photos of landscapes. Searching for a perfect shot, we can use a drone for an elevated view of our surroundings, or a boat to pass through water and reach otherwise inaccessible places. There are new cameras scattered around the locations, encouraging us to explore every nook and cranny.
The game features many different environments from all across the world. We'll get to visit rugged coastlines, beautiful forest valleys, mountaintops and Icelandic wastelands. Our primary tool is a SLR camera. Available cameras offer advanced settings regarding focus, flash, exposure, contrast, white balance and cover. We can also modify local environmental conditions; depending on our photo ideas, we can change the light angle, fogginess, wind, cause rainfall or snowfall.
Lushfoil Photography Sim makes great use of the Unreal Engine 5. The realistic environments are extremely detailed; the dynamic lighting and plants moving to the wind are also quite appealing.

Game Ratings for Lushfoil Photography Sim Video Game.
PlayStation Universe: 8 / 10 by Joe Richards
As a photography simulator, Lushfoil Photography Sim shines when it allows itself to. A brilliant atmospheric decompressor is lost under the weight of mechanics that I really don't think needed to be there. This feels like a bizarre moment where I want it to be less of a "game" and lean into itself as an experience. Still, it's well worth a peek if you enjoy wandering some silent roads and seeing the sights on your own time.
Gamer Social Club: 9 / 10 by Mark Pell
Lushfoil Photography Sim exceeded every expectation I had and it is now my favourite walking simulator ever made, and to-date my 2025 GOTY. In a year full of AAA games and some incredibly exciting indies, Lushfoil is proud to stand as its own entity and it does something new in an incredible way. Matt Newell has transformed his personal love for photography into the video games medium and I truly hope this is something he has the opportunity to create DLC or a sequel for. This is as much a game for people who love photography, as those who love video game or real world exploration.
Use a Potion: 8 / 10
Lushfoil Photography Sim is a captivating experience that blends the joy of exploration with the depth of real photography. Its gorgeous vistas and near-authentic camera sandbox let you disappear into the craft of picture-taking without a care in the world, while there are enough elements of progression to keep the free-form strolling from turning aimless. And sure, the invisible walls and sometimes fiddly controls can be a little jarring, but they don’t detract from what is otherwise a beautiful and very personal experience.
