MarZ: Tactical Base Defense PC

MarZ: Tactical Base Defense is a 3D tower defense game set in the future on the titular planet Mars. In the game, players lead a team of daredevils, whose mission is to colonize the Red Planet, but when completing it, have encountered difficulties in the form of undead settlers. MarZ: Tactical Base Defense is a game created by an independent two-person studio from Vienna - doorfortyfour.

Plot

In 2065, mankind is finally ready to colonize Mars. During this process, however, people encounter a certain problem, because the Red Planet already has its inhabitants. Namely the undead. In such circumstances, players' team is forced to find answers to who their opponents are (or who they were when they were alive), why do they behave like this, what are their motives, and how to succeed in colonizing Mars.

Mechanics

MarZ: Tactical Base Defense has a single player campaign consisting of 20 missions to complete on one of the three available difficulty levels. Each one is based on stopping the undead hordes from destroying one's base and discovering their history, as well as completing three tasks for which players are given a special skill. All the choices and results achieved for the completion of each mission have an impact on the campaign finale - there are several options to unlock.

As befits a tower defense game, players' job is to defend their bases. It revolves around giving orders to the team and controlling the machines built on the map. These are divided into offensive and defensive. As the mission progresses, players unlock access to better shooting towers, teleporters, Tesla towers, laser beams, new weapons for one's team, and special buildings that give access to energy resources - the more resources players have, the more they can build.

In addition to the standard campaign, the developers have added other game modes. One of them is Skirmish, which focuses on the strategic aspect of the game, in which players have to defeat masses of enemies on procedurally generated maps. Another one is Outbreak, which is actually a more difficult Skirmish mode, where instead of fighting divided into waves of enemies, players have to fight against the constantly appearing dead; the longer players survive, the higher their score. And for the story, one can take advantage of player-created campaigns or create one him or herself with Steam Workshop support.

Technical aspects

MarZ: Tactical Base Defense has support for streamers using Twitch platforms. With special tools, the audience can make certain decisions during the game and try to sabotage or support the player's actions.
