Release Date: March 13, 2026
The third installment of Monster Hunter's spin-off series, focusing more on storytelling and an option to tame monsters and create bonds with them. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection allows us to play as a hero planning to stop the conflict between two fantasy realms.
Monster Hunter Stories is a spin-off subseries of the Monster Hunter brand, initiated in 2017. In contrast to the main series, which emphasizes dynamic battles with monsters, the titles under this banner focus on storytelling. Although combat is present in them, it takes the form of turn-based skirmishes. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the third installment in the sub-series. It was developed and published by the Japanese company Capcom.
In Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we explore a fantasy land, get to know the inhabitants of the game world and engage in conversations with them, as well as perform quests for them. In this way, we gradually push the story forward.
Although there is no shortage of battles with the titular monsters here, this is not the end of the possibilities for interacting with them. Many creatures can be tamed (then they become our "Monsties") and used on the battlefield as support or turned into mounts, allowing to travel on their backs.
During turn-based battles, we use the weapons and combat skills of our character, as well as take advantage of the strengths of our monster allies. As we progress, we develop the character and their monsters, and gather increasingly better equipment.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection takes us right into the heart of a smoldering conflict between two fantasy lands - Azuria and Vermeil, which are on the brink of extinction. After twin Rathalos hatch from a mysterious egg bearing signs of impending destruction, it seems that war is inevitable.
The main character of the game is the heir of Azuria, who is also the leader of the Guardians and the only Rider of Rathalos. In search of the truth, the protagonist sets off to the forbidden land beyond the northern Meridian. He is accompanied by Eleanor, the princess of Vermeil, who, wanting to ease tensions between the kingdoms, voluntarily surrendered herself to Azuria as a hostage.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is an undeniably fun and instantly addictive turn-based title based on the world of Monster Hunter. This title follows a unique storyline with the ability to raise dragons and restore the natural balance of their presence in the entire world. The open world gives a lot of opportunities to be lost for hours exploring, but the story is well delivered to keep you hooked until the end
Game8: 78 / 100 by Alfonso Majarucon
Monster Hunter Stories 3 feels like a prematurely released game that could have been truly great. It’s got everything from the series’ signature monster collecting mechanics, the gritty turn-based combat, and much, much better audiovisuals than its predecessors. Unfortunately, beyond the bloat of grinding for stronger monsters and watching filler, there’s not much content to actually engage in.
