Children of the Sun is an original production combining sniper shooters, stealth games and logic games. The game was created by an independent developer - René Rother - and its release was handled by Devolver Digital.
In Children of the Sun, we play the role of a girl wanting a revenge on the sect that turned her life into hell. To punish its members for the crimes committed, the protagonist eliminates them one by one, trying to reach the leader of this group. Somewhat incidentally along the way, the heroine learns more and more about this mysterious cult.
In Children of the Sun, we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game consists of a series of missions, in which our task is to eliminate all targets.
The mission is complicated by the fact that in each level we are only given one bullet to use. However, this is not an ordinary projectile, because after hitting the target, we can use it again. The bullet can accelerate on the way between victims (which allows it, for example, to pierce armors). It's also possible to make use of the ricochet possibilities or creatively use the elements of the environment (and for example, cause explosions that kill several targets at once).
Due to the fact that we can only take one shot in each mission, the key to success is conducting reconnaissance and identifying enemy positions, as well as finding a good place to set up the rifle. The fun is diversified by simple stealth elements; we have to keep our eyes peeled and act quietly so as not to be noticed during reconnaissance.
All of this makes each mission a kind of a logical puzzle, the solution of which requires plotting the optimal projectile path. It is worth returning to already completed missions and experiment with alternative approaches. In addition to this, the game has implemented leaderboards, where players can boast about their results.
