Sniper Elite 5 is the next installment in the series of sniper action games by Rebellion studio. This time we go with the mission to France occupied by German forces in 1944. Game improves gameplay mechanics and introduces new concepts to multiplayer modes.

The action of Sniper Elite 5 takes place in France in 1944. The main hero is once again Karl Fairburne, who is sent this time to the Brittany coast in order to weaken the Atlantic Wall, the German fortification system. During this mission, he is on the trail of a secret Nazi plan known as Operation Kraken, which could lead to the final defeat of the Allies.
Sniper Elite 5 is an action game that develops ideas from previous installments of the series. So we get a series of missions, each of which takes place on a large map with an open structure. The player receives tasks to complete, but has a lot of freedom to choose the methods of completing them. In the game, we eliminate enemies from long distances using a sniper rifle, frontal attacks, as well as a stealthy approach in which we try to avoid detection.
In the game we see the return of the series' trademark Killcam, which is a camera showing the damage our bullets cause to the bodies of enemies. In comparison with the previous installments, the realism of this mechanic has been increased even more. Additionally, it is now activated for hits not only from sniper rifles, but also from other firearms and knife attacks.
Sniper Elite 5 also offers improvements in the ballistics system and an extensive weapon modification system, allowing us to change many elements of each weapon, as well as use a large selection of ammunition types.
The game offers an extensive story campaign, which can be played solo or in cooperative mode for two people. The latter option has been greatly improved in comparison with the previous part of the series, thanks to which players can share ammunition and equipment, as well as heal each other. It is also possible to invade other people's sessions. In this variant, we take on the role of a German sniper and hunt down other players in their campaigns.
Sniper Elite 5 also has more traditional multiplayer options. Classic PvP skirmishes are available, in which up to sixteen people compete against each other on one map at the same time. A survival mode is also available, where three people must fight against waves of increasingly powerful enemies.
Sniper Elite 5 features fully 3D graphics. The game's maps are large and detailed, and improvements in killcam mechanics make eliminating enemies even more visually spectacular than in previous installments of the series.

With a new WW2 tale to tell and Axis plot to foil, Sniper Elite 5 expands and refines a lot of the action that will be familiar to fans of Sniper Elite 4. There's a few rough edges, but this is a fun stealth action romp for Karl Fairburne.

Invasion Mode is the saving grace in Sniper Elite 5, rescuing a safe sequel that would otherwise be tough to celebrate. With that said, I still need to experience the competitive multiplayer side of things, which could also be a highlight.
