Munchkin is a card game created by Steve Jackson Games, in which we control adventurers exploring dungeons, collecting items and fighting against various fantastic beasts. Asmodee Digital is responsible for creating the digital port.
Munchkin is a card game that is inspired a classic pen&paper system like Dungeons & Dragons. Each player has a character who starts their adventure on the first level. The game has us uncovering cards from a deck, representing doors and treasures. The first type contain challenges (monsters) that we must defeat, while the second contains various types of items and improvements that enable us to strengthen our hero (but we can only carry one item of a given type - e.g. one weapon, one armor, etc.).
Monsters are defeated by comparing their level with the one that of our hero (it is also necessary to take into account modifications related to equipment). The deck also includes buff cards and character classes, which enable us to gain additional, lasting abilities. While playing, we accumulate experience points (we get them by defeating monsters), which can be used to advance to next levels. The first to reach level 10 wins.
Players can cooperate with each other, but they can also make eachother's life difficult - for example, by playing various buffs for monsters encountered by their rivals.
Munchkina can be played only with other players.
Like most digital board game adaptations, Munchkin has fairly simple visuals, which consist mainly of an interface and illustrated cards. Particularly noteworthy are the humorous pictures created by the illustrator John Kovalic.
