A refreshed version of the classic RPG. Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition was developed and published by Aspyr Media. We can play the base campaign and also all of the story expansions released for the original game - Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition is a refreshed and enriched with all add-ons version of the RPG titled Neverwinter Nights 2, originally released in 2006. The new version was developed and released by Aspyr Media company.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition does not introduce revolutionary changes. There are several innovations and improvements over the original, led by sharper textures, modernized controls and a new interface (which has been adapted for use with a gamepad), as well as refined mechanics and smoother gameplay.
This compilation includes the base version of the game Neverwinter Nights 2 and its three story expansions, namely Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, and Mysteries of Westgate.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition takes us to the fantasy land of Forgotten Realms, specifically - to the vicinity of the city of Neverwinter known from the first installment of the series. In the base version of the game, we play as a character who is the guardian of a fragment - an ancient relic of great power, sought after by the forces of darkness led by the Shadow King.
In Mask of the Betrayer we face a curse that forces our character to devour souls. We end up in the land of Rashemen and the shadow realm, where the source of our curse is located. Storm of Zehir takes place in an area ruled by Yuan-Ti (snake people from the jungle) and allows us to participate in the creation of a trade empire. Mysteries of Westgate take us to the titular city, where we face the secret organization Night Masks.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition is a classically executed RPG game. During the game, we embody a self-created character (we decide about their race, gender, appearance, and class). Our hero travels the world, gets to know its inhabitants and engages in conversations with them, as well as carries out quests pushing the plot forward along with side missions.
We also recruit companions with whom we explore the Forgotten Realms and face opponents. The battles take place in real time, with the option of an active pause, and during them the key to success is skillful juggling of character abilities and exploiting their strengths.
As we progress, we develop our character and our team. Along the way we make choices that affect the course of the story, our relationships with the team, and how the adventure will end.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition can be played alone or in online coop mode. The remaster offers a cross-play feature, allowing owners of versions on different platforms to play together.

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition comes with a lot of good points but just as many bad points for a remaster. If you can look past the issues, there's loads of potential, and it's a great way to get into Dungeons & Dragons if you're new to it. Sadly, nostalgia goggles can only do so much, and the fandom may not view minor improvements as a genuine remaster in this case.

If you value strategic depth, classic RPG storytelling, and true-to-form D&D systems, this Enhanced Edition deserves a spot in your library. Just don’t expect a complete reinvention—this one’s for the adventurers who know what they’re getting into.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition does the bare minimum as it brings the game to consoles. It looks a bit better, but that's about it. It's still buggy and rough around the edges, but it is at least Neverwinter Nights 2. If you really want to sit back and play it with a controller, this will do it for you. If you want anything more, the original is more than playable on pretty much any PC, and has deep mod support.
