A 2.5D platformer taking place in the puppet theatre. In Once Upon a Puppet we play as Nieve and take control over a puppet named Drev. We explore the various stages of the theatre, trying to bring them back to their former glory. We must also deal with hostile beings wanting to see our failure.
Once Upon A Puppet is a platforming game set in a theatrical world. The game was developed by the independent studio Flatter than Earth, composed partially by former employees of Ubisoft and Blizzard Entertainment.
In Once Upon a Puppet we watch the action from the side. During the game we take control of a puppet named Drev, connected by a spool and thread to its caretaker - Nieve. The adventure leads us through various locations, which we explore by jumping on platforms, swinging over abysses, avoiding terrain obstacles and dodging traps. We must also deal with dark creatures desiring the downfall of the theatre.
In addition to this, there are environmental puzzles here, which involve rebuilding scenes by arranging props, as well as setting backgrounds and characters. We can interact with other characters, providing an opportunity to get to know their personalities.
Once Upon a Puppet tells the story of a theatrical assistant named Nieve, a talented girl who doubts her abilities. She has been banished to the Understage. Together with a doll named Drev, who dreams of a great acting career, she decides to embark on a return journey to Proscenium. Along the way they discover the dark secrets of the theater and find out what really connects them with this place.
The graphic design of Once Upon a Puppet was made in 2.5D technique. Although the events are presented here as in classic, two-dimensional platform games, the visuals consist of three-dimensional elements.
