Over Jump Rally is an arcade racing game and a self-described "unofficial remake" of the iconic Sega Rally Championship. The gameplay and content are reminiscent of the 1990s original, though the game runs on the Unreal Engine 5 and features modern visuals.

Before 1998's Colin McRae Rally took over the rally simulator genre, one of the most popular games of this genre was Sega Rally. Indie developer Bonsai Rosso has paid homage to the series' first installment by creating a self-described "unofficial remake", Over Jump Rally.

Gameplay

Bonsai Rosso wished to faithfully recreate the gameplay of Sega Rally Championship, originally released in 1994 on arcade machines. The cars handle easily and the tracks are simple, letting the player hurl forward at top speed at nearly all times.

Due to the game's arcade origins, the amount of content is also relatively modest. There are three authentic rally cars to choose from (Lancia Delta, Toyota Celica and the bonus Lancia Stratos) and four tracks (Desert, Forest, Mountain and the secret Lakeside).

The player must race against time and AI-controlled opponents.

Game modes

Alongside singleplayer, Over Jump Rally supports local (split-screen) and online multiplayer.

Technology

Although the gameplay and music of Over Jump Rally are old-school and nostalgic, the visuals are modernized and very detailed. The game runs on the Unreal Engine 5.
