Pang Adventures for PS4, AND and etc. is an arcade game which is the newest instalment of the popular Pang series, known in Japan as Pomping World and in the USA as Buster Bros. The series was born in 1989 on arcade machines. The new part was developed by DotEmu specialising in refreshing classic hits, like Heroes of Might and Magic III, Another World, Raiden, Little Big Adventure, and the Metal Slug series.
During gameplay you follow another adventures of two Pang brothers, who fight the invasion of aliens threatening the Earth. Since the last raid that was stopped by the two brave heroes, Aliens took their time and improved their technology. In the outcome, the newest version features loads of new challenges. The simple plot serves just as a pretext for actual gameplay.
General principles of gameplay practically have not changed throughout years. Traditionally, the player’s objective is to destroy balls jumping through levels. The problem is that they are not passive and can attack the protagonists and sometimes hide behind different obstacles. To eliminate them efficiently, you can use a wide range of weapons, e.g. machine guns, flamethrowers, lasers, shurikens, etc. There are +100 various levels set in different locations, like the Arctic, Scotland, the Death Valley, and Bora Bora isles. For the first time in the series, this title introduces difficult boss fights at the end of each chapter.
Pang Adventures offers three different game modes: Tour Mode (the classic single player campaign), Score Attack (survival, in which you have only three lives), and Panic Mode (you have to finish 99 difficult levels with no pauses). The game published on PC and PlayStation 4/Xbox One consoles offers cooperation for two players, both local and Internet.
Available on PS4, AND and etc. Pang Adventures features characteristic for the series, relatively simple visuals which, even though utilise HD graphics and a whole palette of impressive special effects, successfully maintain the spirit of the productions from the past.

Expansive: by Laurie Jones
Pang Adventures is just good – solo or co-op – old-fashioned retro arcade fun that is perfectly suited to handheld play. There’s nothing different from the Switch version compared to the rest, but it's a fair argument to say that this is the definitive edition.
Nindie Spotlight: 8 / 10 by Nindie Spotlight
Complementing already solid shooting gameplay with a terrific graphical overhaul, some smart new elements, and a provision for local co-op Pang Adventures is a joy for a vintage gamer like me to play. Familiar and yet modern, challenging and yet fair, it starts out a bit slowly but doesn’t take too long before it starts making you work to complete those levels. Remaking classics is undoubtedly a challenge, forcing you to balance a sense of nostalgia with a need to keep things fresh. For the most part the folks at DotEmu have knocked this one out of the park, and with it’s pocketbook-friendly price it’s easy to recommend to any retro gaming or shooting fan.
Nintendo Life: 7 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln
Pang Adventures offers a tense and instantly enjoyable ode to a timeless arcade romp, and one that's bound to engage and reward players who enjoyed it 30 years ago as well as those discovering it for the first time on the eShop. The support for online play is a real bonus, as many puzzle games of this ilk are want to simply plump for couch-play only, but for all its colourful chaos you are left hoping for something a little less predictable. Fans of the original will love it, but they may also lament the fact that more hasn't been done to update this classic series.
