The original Another World, a game created by Eric Chahi and a team at Delphine Software, was released in 1991 and up until today is considered a large milestone in the development of video game industry. Fifteen years later, the developers decided to prepare an enhanced edition, Another World: 15th Anniversary Edition. On the occasion of 20th anniversary of the franchise, the creators made yet another attempt to modernize their work. The fruit of their labor is Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition.

The game’s story remains unchanged. The players assumes control over a young scientists, Lester Knight Chaykin, who gets transferred to another world as a result of a failed experiment. The protagonist has to survive in a place full of dangers and find a way home all at the same time.

The developers remained faithful to the gameplay mechanics of the original. Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition still combines elements of adventure and 2D platformer genres. The novelties introduced include three difficulty levels (normal – easier than the original, difficult – same as in the original, hardcore – more difficult than the original), gamepad support and full integration with Steamworks service.

Some changes were also made in the audiovisual aspect of the game. The graphics of Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition were adjusted to High-Definition standard, while the soundtrack was remastered once more.
