Heroes of Might & Magic III: HD Edition is a remastered release of one of the most popular turn-based strategy games of all time by New World Computing. The re-edition was developed by a French studio, DotEmu, which was commissioned by Ubisoft. The aim of this was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series and 15th anniversary of its third installment. HD Edition was released on PCs and mobile devices with Android and iOS.

Gameplay wise, HD Edition is practically identical to the original. We still explore magical lands, control heroes leading entire armies into battle, gather resources, collect artifacts, learn spells, develop our skills, and – first and foremost – conquer and expand cities to win over the enemy. The remastered version only includes Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia without the Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death expansions, therefore we have 7 campaigns, skirmish mode and a map editor. There is still the multiplayer mode with both hotseat and Steam-supported online play.

A great game, unimpressively updated. Get the bigger, cheaper version instead.

Attack of the Fanboy: 2.5 / 5

It is hard to recommend Heroes of Might & Magic 3 HD Edition. If you played this game, and you liked it, 15 years ago when it first came out, you might get a bit of nostalgia from this version. But without the expansions bundled in and practically no changes, there exist better alternatives on the market for you to spend your money on.
