Patron PC

Patron is the debut game of the indie studio Overseer Games. The game is an economic strategy with survival elements, in which our task is to build a prosperous city able to survive social conflicts and natural disasters.

Mechanics

We play as the Patron, the administrator of the settlement, the expansion of which is our goal. The game takes place in real time. As a Patron we give orders to the villagers: we order the construction of buildings or the extraction of natural resources located on our lands. We can spend the gained goods on improving our constructions. New buildings, technologies and abilities can be unlocked through an extensive research tree.

A unique feature of the game is the simulation of society. The inhabitants of our city are unique, randomly generated, each with their own opinions, desires, needs and priorities. Some residents are concerned about immigration, others want better education, healthcare or lower taxes. Residents are divided into four social groups: farmers, workers, merchants and aristocracy. Residents belonging to different groups have different qualifications and may work in different professions. The key to success is to maintain good relations with each group. Otherwise, people will begin to leave your city or riot against the government.

While managing the city, the player must be ready for unexpected difficulties. While playing Patron, we face natural disasters such as fires, tornadoes or severe frosts. Economic problems also await us. In order to survive hard times, we have to be ready for any eventuality, provide protection for our citizens and take care of our foreign trade relations in order to be able to buy necessary resources in case of their shortage.

Game modes

Patron includes single player mode only.

Technical aspects

The game has a simple, but nice and clear graphic design. You may like the transparent interface and weather effects.
