Among the productions based on the Pokemon license, one can find representatives of various genres. One of them is Pokemon Champions, a battle game developed by The Pokemon Company and its subordinate studio The Pokemon Works.
In Pokemon Champions, we take on the role of a trainer along with his Pokemon fighting for victory in arenas. The pillar of the game is turn-based duels, to which we field the creatures we own. Individual monsters differ from each other in terms of skills and strengths and weaknesses. This makes it necessary to send Pokemons into battle that are able to counter the opponents' attacks, while using their weaknesses to our advantage. The game allows you to choose the soundtrack, to the accompaniment of which the skirmishes with our participation are taking place.
As we progress, we earn Victory Points, allowing us to recruit new Pokémon, as well as develop the ones we already have. In addition, thanks to the so-called Omni Ring, selected creatures can undergo mega-evolution, reaching their most powerful forms.
Pokemon Champions allows for multiplayer gameplay over the Internet. The title offers three battle modes, the most important of which are Ranked Battles. Within them we fight skirmishes with trainers from all over the world, and the results achieved affect our position in the rankings. They are also a source of Victory Points. In addition, there are Casual Battles and Private Battles, the format of which is determined by the player himself.

Lords Of Gaming : 8.9 / 10 by Chris Jones
Pokemon Champions succeeds in doing something the series has struggled with for years: making competitive Pokemon accessible without stripping away its depth. Between the streamlined systems, balanced design choices, and strong progression, it creates an experience that feels welcoming to newcomers while still challenging veterans to adapt. While issues like the Replica Team system and lack of a replay feature hold it back slightly, the overall package is incredibly strong. After 30 hours of play and plenty of time in ranked battles, it’s clear this is a game built to last and one that I’ll continue playing well beyond this review.
IGN: 6 / 10
Pokémon Champions proves that the tried-and-true combat system that helped define Nintendo’s monster-catching monolith has endured for a reason, but it’s going to need a lot of updates and maybe even an evolution of its own before this is the definitive way to do battle.

Right now, Pokemon Champions provides two different experiences for seasoned players and newcomers respectively--and unfortunately for newcomers, it's an uneven one that will require a lot of their own dedication and time to improve.
