A mix of RPGs and simple arcade games. In Pong Quest, we play the role of a racket, which travels through the undergrounds inspired by Atari games and takes part in battles with opponents, made on the model of matches in the cult Pong.
Pong Quest is an unusual hybrid of RPG and simple arcade game. This game is based on the Pong, a cult game created in 1972 by Allan Alcorn. It was developed by a small British studio, Chequered Ink, and published by Atari.
In Pong Quest, we play the role of a personified Pong racket, whose task is to discover the secrets behind the Spooky Door. In order to do so, the hero has to cross the vast dungeons underneath the kingdom and face the dangers lurking there.
In Pong Quest, the action is shown from the top-down perspective. During the game, we travel through undergrounds inspired by various game from Atari's portfolio. Among them we can find locations modelled on Asteroids and Centipede games. While walking through them, we talk to NPCs (also being rackets) and carry out the tasks they give us, as well as solve environmental puzzles and confront our enemies.
The combat system is based on a gameplay scheme developed for the original. During the fights, the racket controlled by us and its enemies are at the opposite ends of the playing field and bounce the ball, gradually depleting their life bars. As we progress, we acquire both equipment that affects the appearance of the hero, as well as new types of balls (more than fifty of them are waiting to be discovered) with different characteristics providing us with various combat abilities.
In addition to the single player campaign, Pong Quest offers a competition-based multiplayer mode for up to four people (online or on a shared screen).
The two-dimensional graphics of Pong Quest is colorful and extremely simple, but at the same time legible. The retro style is complemented by chiptune elements that enrich the sound layer.

Game Ratings for Pong Quest Video Game.
Game Informer: 7.3 / 10 by Brian Shea
While unique twists on the Pong formula make battles enjoyable at first, the repetition quickly wears on the experience
NintendoWorldReport: 3.5 / 10 by Brett Posner-Ferdman
When I wasn't bored with the lack of substance to this game, I was aggravated by every enemy encounter and the core battle mechanics. When the best part of the game is the classic local multiplayer Pong experience from nearly 50 years ago, that should say a lot about the quality of the game. If you really want to play the original Pong on Switch, that should be the only reason you should be picking up this title.

As a "vintage gamer" who remembers playing Pong and many variants of it, whether at home or at friends' houses, this was a title that got my attention when it was announced...
