Preface: Undiscovered World is a tech demo developed by PlayerUnknown Productions, a studio founded by Brendan Greene, the creator of the popular game PUBG: Battlegrounds.

The production is distributed for free, and along with Prologue: Go Wayback! it constitutes one of the stages leading to the creation of a multiplayer sandbox known as Project Artemis.

Open world

Preface: Undiscovered World is a demonstration of the capabilities of a technology called Melba, generating an open world the size of the entire Earth (its surface is 510 million square kilometers). This process takes place locally and in real time, without relying on cloud computing.
