The fourth part in one of the most famous FPS franchises in history, originated by id Software Studio in 1993. Since then, the overall story premise remained basically unchanged, having the player take on the role of a sole commando who has to fight hordes of demons from Hell spawned in a military research base as a result of a failed experiment. In contrast to the third game, which featured numerous horror elements, Doom focuses on fast-paced action, thus going back to the roots of the series.

The player is taken to the future and assumes the role of a female mercenary known as Bombshell - her goal is to save humanity from an invasion of aliens. Although the game utilizes the Build engine from Duke Nukem 3D, the creators modernized it to a significant degree. Mechanics were also improved - the formula of said classic title laid the groundwork, though it got adequately expanded.

In unexplained circumstances, the protagonist ends up in ancient Egypt - as a living mummy he goes deep into the pyramids, where he hopes to find answers to the questions that bother him. The levels are diverse: we can choose from a modern city infrastructure, through churches, to dark undergrounds.
