An online tactical first-person extraction shooter based on the Playerunknown's Battlegrounds franchise. The battles in PUBG: Black Budget take place on a map spanning over 6 square kilometers. They are 30-minute sessions intended for 45 players divided into teams of three.
In 2017, the game Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (later renamed to PUBG: Battlegrounds) led to an explosion in the popularity of battle royale productions. In the following decade, the first place among online shooters was taken over by the extraction game genre. The creators of the aforementioned title from the PUBG Studios team - operating under the umbrella of Krafton - tapped into this new trend by creating PUBG: Black Budget described here.
In PUBG: Black Budget the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The driving force of the game are the objectives assigned to us by three competing factions, during which we land on an island measuring 2.5 by 2.5 km to collect artifacts found there and fight against opponents. Once we feel we have accomplished our goals, we must evacuate in one piece to keep the acquired items and successfully complete the mission.
All of this is not easy, as the game area gradually shrinks, and we face both AI enemies and mercenaries controlled by other players. We eliminate foes primarily using firearms. Since our inventory has limited capacity, we must regularly juggle the equipment we gather. The game does not force us to act alone, allowing us to form teams and work together to achieve the tasks assigned to us.
Between missions, we arrive at a base of operations where we craft items, upgrade our arsenal, and develop our character's skills, as well as customize their appearance to our individual preferences. As our level increases, so does the level of threats we have to face. Additionally, over time, we gain reputation with various factions, granting us access to increasingly lucrative contracts and, consequently, more valuable rewards.
In PUBG: Black Budget we take on the role of so-called contractors - mercenaries sent to a research facility located on an island at the edge of the world to retrieve secret technology. The situation is complicated by the fact that this piece of land is trapped in a time loop, a phenomenon known as the Anomaly gradually reduces the operational area. Other freelancers representing different factions have also been sent to the location and they may see us as competition (and vice versa).
In PUBG: Black Budget we can play in teams of up to 3 people. A total of up to 45 people can participate in a single game.
